Privacy Policy

KahaniKids.ai, operated by Tiny Thinkers Pte Ltd — Last Updated: 8 August 2026

Welcome to KahaniKids.ai. We are dedicated to safeguarding you and your child’s data and privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use artificial intelligence to generate content, who we share information with, and the choices and rights you have — for parents, guardians, educators, and any other visitor to our Platform. It also serves as our parental notice under child-privacy laws such as COPPA.

By using our digital platforms, including our apps and websites (collectively, the “Platform”), and related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

Privacy at a Glance

This section is a plain-language summary. It does not replace the full Policy below.

  • Who we are. KahaniKids.ai is operated by Tiny Thinkers Pte Ltd, incorporated in Singapore.
  • Accounts are parent-managed. A Parent or Guardian creates and controls the account; children do not sign up or submit information directly.
  • We minimize what we collect about children. We prefer a nickname, age band, and avatar over a full name and photo, and we do not collect precise location for personalization.
  • AI is used to generate stories, images, translations, and narration. These requests are sent from our backend only — the app never calls AI providers directly — and are sanitized to avoid unnecessary identifiers.
  • We do not sell personal information, ever.
  • We do not use children’s data for advertising or behavioural tracking.
  • No consent, no graphs. We do not build analytics dashboards, progress graphs, or personalized recommendations from a child’s activity unless a Parent has consented.
  • You can access, correct, or delete your and your child’s data. Contact us at hello@kahanikids.ai.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 From the Parent Account

When a Parent creates an account, we collect their name, email address, and password. We use this to create and secure the account, communicate with the Parent, process purchases, and provide support.

3.2 About the Child (Parent-Provided, With Consent)

With the Parent’s consent, we collect limited information to personalize the child’s experience: a name or nickname, age or age band, and optionally a gender/avatar selection and interests. We recommend, and the App is designed to encourage, using a nickname and avatar rather than a full name and photo. A child does not create an account or submit this information directly — a Parent provides and manages it on the child’s behalf.

3.3 Story Content

When a Parent or child selects story parameters (genre, theme, characters, language) and generates a story, we process that content to create the story, and we retain the generated story so it can be displayed again (for example, in reading history).

3.4 Automatically Collected (Device and Usage Data)

Our systems automatically collect technical data needed to operate the Service, such as device type, app version, operating system, connection timestamps, and error/crash reports. Broader product analytics — screen views, feature usage, engagement patterns — are only collected, and only shared with an analytics provider, if the Parent has given analytics consent. No consent, no graphs: without that consent, we do not build progress dashboards, behavioural insights, or personalized recommendations from a child’s activity, and we do not send child-linked analytics events to third-party analytics tools.

3.5 Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple, Google Play, or our payment processor. We receive a receipt/transaction identifier and payment status to activate your subscription and provide billing support — we do not receive or store your card or bank account details directly.

4. How We Use AI to Generate Content

KahaniKids.ai uses third-party artificial intelligence providers to generate stories, illustrations, translations, and narration. To protect your privacy:

  • Backend-only. The mobile app never calls an AI provider directly — every AI request is made from our backend, under our control.
  • Sanitized payloads. We minimize what is sent to AI providers. Wherever possible, we exclude the Parent’s email, the child’s full name, precise location, device identifiers, and internal account IDs, sending only what is needed to generate the requested content (for example: age band, language, genre, theme).
  • AI sub-processors we use: a large-language-model provider (such as an OpenAI model) for story text; an image-generation provider (such as Leonardo AI) for illustrations; a translation provider (such as Bhashini) for multi-language delivery; and a text-to-speech provider for narration. Each processes the content we send them under their own data-handling terms, in addition to our instructions. These are backend, server-to-server calls — your device never communicates with these providers directly, and they do not receive cookies or any other data directly from your device.
  • Automated safety check before display. Generated content passes automated moderation before it is shown to a child. See our Safety and Moderation Policy for how automated and human review work together — and, importantly, that not every story is reviewed by a human before a child sees it.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not exchange, rent, or otherwise disclose personal information to third parties in exchange for money or other value.

We share information with the following categories of Service Providers, only as needed to operate the Platform:

  • AI / generation providers — story, image, translation, and narration generation, as described in Section 4.
  • Cloud hosting and content delivery — to store and serve app data, images, and audio (for example, object storage and a content delivery network).
  • Authentication provider — to secure account sign-in.
  • Payment processors (Apple, Google Play, and/or our payment gateway) — to process purchases and subscriptions. They receive payment details directly from you; we receive only transaction status.
  • Email and notification providers — for account verification, password resets, service notices, and (with consent, where applicable) product updates.
  • Analytics providers — only for data covered by parental analytics consent, and never for advertising.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the safety of a child or others, or in connection with a corporate transaction (such as a merger), subject to confidentiality protections.

International transfers. Because our Service Providers may process data outside your country (including outside Singapore), your information may be transferred internationally. We take reasonable measures, consistent with applicable law, to protect data during such transfers.

6. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website to remember information about your visit. Here is exactly what we use, and what we do not.

6.1 What We Use

  • Essential cookies (website). Necessary for the website to function, such as remembering basic session information.
  • Analytics (website). We use privacy-focused, cookieless web analytics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) to understand traffic and page performance. This tooling does not set tracking cookies and does not build cross-site or cross-device profiles.
  • App analytics. Collected only where the Parent has given analytics consent for their child’s account, and used solely for product improvement and reliability. No consent, no graphs: without that consent, we do not send child-linked analytics events to any analytics provider.
  • Functionality. Cookies or local device storage that remember your preferences, such as language or region.

6.2 What We Do Not Use

We do not use targeting or advertising cookies, and we do not run child-targeted advertising or behavioural ad tracking of any kind. We do not build advertising profiles from a child’s activity on the Platform.

Our AI story, image, translation, and narration providers (Section 4) do not set cookies on your device — they are called from our backend only and never communicate with your device directly.

6.3 Managing Your Preferences

You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and app analytics consent through the App’s settings. Disabling non-essential cookies or analytics will not prevent you from using the core Platform, though some personalization features may be affected.

7. Children’s Privacy — Parental Rights

KahaniKids.ai is built around parent-managed accounts. Each account is created and controlled by a Parent, who creates and manages child profiles, approves purchases and sharing via a passcode, and can edit, customize, or delete a child’s profile at any time.

How we obtain parental consent. We treat account creation and child-profile setup by a Parent — where the Parent agrees to this Policy and our Terms of Service on the child’s behalf — as the point at which parental consent for the child data described in Section 3.2 is obtained. We are continuing to strengthen our verifiable-parental-consent mechanisms as the product grows and in line with regulatory guidance (such as the FTC’s COPPA guidance).

Under COPPA and similar child-privacy laws, Parents have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we have collected from their child.
  • Request deletion of their child’s personal information.
  • Opt out of further collection of their child’s personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate information about their child.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@kahanikids.ai. We will verify the request comes from the Parent on the account before acting on it.

8. Age Limitations

Children do not create accounts on the Platform and do not directly submit registration information such as their name, address, phone number, or email address — a Parent does this on the child’s behalf, within a parent-managed account. If we become aware that a child has attempted to interact with us directly and independently of a Parent (for example, by emailing us), we will take reasonable steps to address it — please let us know at hello@kahanikids.ai if this happens.

9. Your Privacy Rights

9.1 Singapore — Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)

As a Singapore-incorporated company, we handle personal data in accordance with the PDPA. You have the right to access and correct your personal data, withdraw consent (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) if you believe we have not complied with the PDPA.

9.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom — GDPR / UK GDPR

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you additionally have the right to confirmation of processing, access, rectification, erasure (“right to be forgotten”), restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing, including profiling, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9.3 California — CCPA / CPRA

If you are a California resident, you additionally have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, correct inaccuracies, and non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of in that regard.

To exercise any right in this Section, contact us at hello@kahanikids.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we aim to respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to comply with legal, regulatory, or operational requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When a Parent requests deletion, we remove the data from active systems; a limited, access-restricted copy may be kept for a defined period where retention is legally required, after which it is permanently deleted.

11. Security Measures

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting who can view personal data, and authenticated access to our systems and APIs. No system can guarantee absolute security, and we continue to review and update these measures.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the revised version on our website and, where the change is material, notifying Parents through the App. Continued use of the Platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
