Safety and Moderation Policy

KahaniKids.ai, operated by Tiny Thinkers Pte Ltd — Last Updated: 8 August 2026

At KahaniKids.ai, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all users of our application (“App”), particularly for children under the age of 18. This Safety and Moderation Policy outlines the steps we take to protect our users, is honest about what is automated versus human-reviewed, and explains the role and responsibility of parents or guardians. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

1. Parental Control and Responsibility

1.1 Account Creation

Parent’s Role. The App must be created and managed by a parent or guardian (“Parent”) on behalf of their child (“User”). During registration, the Parent must provide accurate information and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on behalf of the child.

Verification. We verify the Parent’s identity through standard account verification (such as email confirmation) and require the Parent to affirmatively confirm they are 18 years of age or older. We may request additional verification, such as government-issued identification, on a case-by-case basis where necessary to confirm identity or investigate a safety concern — this is not a routine requirement for every account.

1.2 Parental Passcode

Security Measure. A parental passcode is required to perform significant actions within the App, such as making purchases or sharing content on social media platforms, so a Parent stays in the loop for decisions that may affect a child’s safety or privacy.

Passcode Management. Parents can set or change their passcode within the App’s settings. The passcode should be kept secure and not shared with the child or any unauthorized person.

1.3 Parent’s Monitoring Role

Usage Insights. Where enabled for your app version, the App can provide Parents with summaries of their child’s activity — such as content viewed and actions taken — to support monitoring. The specific reporting and alerting features available may vary by app version and region and expand over time; we do not guarantee a fixed set of monitoring features across all accounts.

2. Age Restrictions

Under-18 Use. The App is designed for use by children under the age of 18, under the supervision of a Parent or Guardian, who is required to manage the account and oversee the child’s activities within the App.

Compliance with Local Laws. The App’s age restrictions comply with relevant laws and regulations, including obtaining necessary parental consent for users under the legal age of digital consent in each jurisdiction.

Age Verification. The App may require confirmation of the Parent’s date of birth and the child’s age during account and profile creation.

3. How We Generate and Moderate Content

We want to be precise about what is automated and what is reviewed by a person, because both matter for safety.

3.1 Automated Content Creation

Our Platform uses third-party artificial intelligence providers, called through our backend only (the App itself never calls these providers directly), to generate personalized stories. Once a Parent or child submits story parameters (such as name/nickname, language, genre, theme):

  • Story generation. The request is sent to a large-language-model provider to generate story text.
  • Automated safety check. Before any generated content is shown to a child, it passes through automated moderation designed to catch inappropriate language, themes, or content.
  • Image generation. A separate image-generation provider creates illustrations to accompany the story.
  • Translation (if needed). A translation provider is used if the story is requested in a different language.
  • Narration (if used). A text-to-speech provider may generate narration audio.

We minimize what we send to these providers: requests are sanitized on our backend and, wherever possible, exclude direct identifiers such as the parent’s email, the child’s full name, precise location, or device identifiers. For details on our AI sub-processors, see our Privacy Policy.

3.2 Human Review — What It Does and Does Not Cover

All child-facing generated content passes automated safety checks before it is shown to a child.

This is important: we do not claim that every individual story is reviewed by a human before a child sees it — that would not be an accurate description of how an AI storytelling platform operates at scale. Instead, our human moderation team focuses review on:

  • content flagged by our automated moderation systems as needing a closer look;
  • content reported by a Parent or user through in-App reporting tools;
  • images and other assets intended to be reused across multiple children’s stories (“reusable” or “approved” learning assets), which go through review before approval; and
  • higher-risk content categories as we identify them.

If inappropriate content is identified through this review, we may warn the user, remove or revise the content, and, for repeated or serious violations, suspend or terminate the account. We are continuing to expand human review coverage as the product and our moderation team grow.

4. Content Moderation

4.1 Moderation Systems

Automated and Human Moderation. The App uses both automated tools and human moderators to monitor user-generated content, so that inappropriate, harmful, or illegal content can be identified and addressed.

Proactive Content Scanning. Automated systems scan content — text, images, and audio — for signals that may indicate a violation of our content standards. Flagged content is reviewed by human moderators to determine appropriate action.

4.2 Reporting and Response

User Reporting Tools. Users and Parents can report content or behaviour they find inappropriate or concerning directly within the App. Reports are prioritized and reviewed by our moderation team.

Moderation Response. Once a report is reviewed, we may remove content, warn the user, or suspend the account. Parents are notified of the outcome of any report made on their child’s account.

4.3 Prohibited Content

The following are strictly prohibited within the App:

  • Sexually Explicit Material. Any nudity, pornography, or sexual content.
  • Violence and Threats. Content depicting or promoting violence, threats, or self-harm.
  • Hate Speech and Discrimination. Content promoting racism, bigotry, or discrimination.
  • Illegal Activities. Content related to illegal activities, including drug use or illegal weapons.
  • Bullying and Harassment. Any form of bullying, harassment, or abusive behaviour.

Content Filters. The App applies automated content filtering to block or flag content that may violate these prohibitions before it is generated or posted.

5. Data Privacy and Protection

Our collection, use, and sharing of information — including what we send to AI, image, translation, and narration providers — is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this Policy by reference.

6. In-App Purchases and Social Media Sharing

6.1 Parental Approval for Purchases

Passcode Requirement. All in-App purchases require the Parent’s passcode, so no unauthorized transactions are made and Parents keep control over financial activity within the App.

Purchase Limits. Where supported by your app version, Parents may be able to set spending limits within the App to help prevent accidental or excessive purchases.

6.2 Social Media Sharing Controls

Restricted Sharing. Sharing content from the App on social media platforms is restricted and requires parental approval via the Parent’s passcode, preventing unauthorized sharing of content by the child.

Content Review. Parents can review content before it is shared, and may approve, edit, or block it from being posted.

7. User Behaviour and Community Guidelines

7.1 Respectful Interaction

Community Standards. All users are expected to interact respectfully. This includes refraining from any behaviour that could be considered bullying, harassment, or abuse.

Enforcement. Violations may result in actions ranging from warnings to account suspension or termination, depending on severity.

7.2 Safety-Focused Monitoring

Where technically necessary for safety, our systems may analyze interaction patterns to help identify signs of bullying, harassment, or other policy violations, and flag them for review by our moderation team. This safety-focused monitoring is separate from, and is not used for, behavioural advertising or marketing profiling — we do not build advertising profiles from children’s activity, and any broader analytics are gated behind parental consent as described in our Privacy Policy (“no consent, no graphs”).

User Responsibility. Users are expected to provide appropriate and safe inputs. We reserve the right to act against users who repeatedly attempt to generate or submit inappropriate content, including temporary or permanent suspension.

7.3 Consequences for Violations

Consequences for violating this Policy may include, depending on severity:

  • Warnings. For minor infractions.
  • Content Removal. Inappropriate content may be removed, with the user informed of the reason.
  • Account Suspension. For repeated or serious violations.
  • Account Termination. In extreme cases, such as illegal activity, with law enforcement notified where appropriate.

8. Legal Compliance

We aim to comply with applicable child-safety and data-protection laws in the jurisdictions where we operate. For details on legal bases, cross-border transfers, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.

9. Parent and User Resources

Safety Resources. We provide guidance materials for Parents and Users, including tips on safe online practices, recognizing inappropriate behaviour, and using the App responsibly. Where available, we may also offer periodic workshops or webinars — availability varies and is not guaranteed for every Parent.

User Engagement. We welcome feedback on our policies and practices to help us better meet user needs.

10. Changes to This Policy

We are committed to continuously improving our safety and moderation systems. We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated to Parents through the App, and continued use of the App after such updates constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
